An Electrical Open Innovation Zone (EOIZ), jointly promoted by Startup Village and the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), will be opened at Startup Village here on Saturday. The objective to set up the zone is to improve the energy situation in the State by exploring new ideas and developing cutting-edge technologies.
State Power Minister Aryadan Mohammed will inaugurate the zone, a unique platform for startup ventures to incubate ideas into technologies for ensuring efficient energy supply in the State.
KSEB Chairman M. Sivasankar and Startup Village Chairman Sanjay Vijayakumar will sign the one-year agreement obligating both the sides to partner the venture.
The zone, coming up at a space of 2500 sq ft, will train people in the skills required to launch businesses in and around the energy sector. Apart from the operational funding, KSEB will also extend technical and non-technical support while Startup Village will develop, own and execute the programme.
Startup Village will offer incubation support to the selected participants through its Mentor Panel and Partner Network. It will also ensure that the progress of the venture happens in a timely manner.
The innovation zone will work in line with the National Electrical Mobility Mission 2020. The zone will give practical exposure to entrepreneurs to work together with KSEB to find out industry problems faced by the power sector, develop indigenous technology solutions and utilise the domain expertise of KSEB to build homegrown solutions which can then be deployed in other states and countries.
