The Centre has initiated major reforms of the EPFO and ESIC for the benefit of organised sector employees. And sensing the need for expansion of ESIC, the government has launched a Second Generation Reform Agenda – ESIC 2.0 in July last. Proposals are under way to expand coverage and offer additional facilities and services through the ESIC, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here today.
Addressing a meeting after the inauguration of the newly constructed building for the ESIC Medical College and Hospital, he said “establishment of the medical college is part of a larger plan to upgrade medical education and specialised tertiary care.”
Universal Account Number has been allotted to 6 crore workers.
