As many as 53 trains were speeded up from five to 40 minutes in Palakkad division from July 1.
A press release by the Southern Railway’s Palakkad division said here that 39 express trains and 14 passenger trains were speeded up from five to 40 minutes in the new time-table that came into effect on July 1.
This has resulted in an overall gain on the running of many long-distance trains to the extent of five to 100 minutes, by revising their departure and arrival time from originating and destination stations in other divisions, it said.
Following are the examples of some trains that have been speeded up in the new time-table. Train no. 16627 Chennai Central-Mangalore Express has been speeded up by 15 minutes and train no. 12685 Chennai Central-Mangalore Express has been speeded up by 35 minutes.
Train no. 16107 Chennai Egmore-Mangalore Express has been speeded up by 10 minutes and train no. 16688 Jammu Tawi-Mangalore Express has been speeded up by five minutes.
The release said that train no. 16043 Puducherry-Mangalore Express has been speeded up by 29 minutes and train no. 16044 Mangalore-Puducherry Express has been speeded up by 23 minutes.
