The Make in India campaign appears to be gathering steam in Maharashtra. Heads of major business houses led by Reliance Industries Ltd Chairman Mukesh Ambani met the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday seeking further opportunities in the State.

Chairman of Kalyani Group, Baba Kalyani and Ajay Piramal of the Piramal Group were also present during the meeting.

A senior State Government officer said that the State of industrial development, employment opportunities and growth rate in the Maharashtra was discussed during the meeting. The industrialists also sought to reduce the time taken for various permissions in the State.

Fadnavis assured that the time taken for various permissions including environmental clearances would be reduced significantly. The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation would be made special planning authority for Development Plan, which will ensure faster rate of industrial growth in the State, the official said.

A committee would be set up, which will review those industrial projects, which could not get permissions due to concerns over environment.
