The Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce (FAPCCI) is inviting applications from industries for awards in 21 categories from all over the state for achieving excellence, according to Shekhar Agarwal, the Chairman of the Awards Committee and M.V Rajeswara Rao, Secretary-General of the FAPCCI.
At a press meet held here on Friday in the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, they said industries could send in their applications before May 10 and the details and the application forms can be downloaded from the website - www.fapcci.in . They said the FAPCCI had been giving these awards for the past 40 years.
Of the 21 categories, they named some such as excellence in productivity, product innovation, all-round performance, agro-based industries, export performance, non-conventional energy, employment welfare programmes, corporate social responsibility, information technology, tourism promotion, R&D and service in healthcare. They said a special award would be given to the outstanding woman entrepreneur in the State.
A jury consisting of two High Court judges and others would decide the winners.
They said the FAPCCI wanted applications from all over the State and the awards should not remain merely a Hyderabad-based affair. "There are several industrial units which have achieved excellence in many of these fields in different parts of the State. We want these unsung, unheard heroes to get their due," they said.
They said the awards would be presented by the Chief Minister sometime in June in Hyderabad.
Atchut Rao, the former President of the FAPCCI, K. Ramabrahmam, the President of the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and M.V Narayana Rao, the Secretary, also spoke.
