Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today expressed disappointment with the Union Budget with regard to lack of adequate provisions to address most of its major concerns involving finances.

These include no announcement yet on according special category status, no additional fund allocation for capital development, and inadequate special announcements to support the growth of industries in the State.

Addressing a press conference, Naidu said that the State has been put to a great disadvantage post the divisions and is faced with a number of problems including lack of funds to take up development works, setting up of a new capital city and taking up major infrastructure projects in the irrigation sector, including the Polavaram project.

Naidu said he would soon seek appointment with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and covey the State’s concerns and also meet with the Finance and Home ministers to highlight various issues the State is faced with now post the division.

He was particularly upset with allocation of Rs 100 crore for the Polavaram project which has been granted national project status. When a national project status is granted, it entitles the project to get 90 per cent of funds from the Centre and the rest would have to be met with the State’s resources.

The Budget has provided for additional investment allowance @15 per cent and additional depreciation @15 per cent to new manufacturing units set-up during the period covering April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2020 in notified areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

This provision has been made with a view to give effect to the provisions of section 94 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
