Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) witnessed fire in its phase-3 unit on Friday evening. The company spokesperson informed media through a late evening e-mail that the company successfully extinguished fire in 30 minutes without any casualty.
The fire was in the CBD (Closed Blowdown) pit of the petro fluid catalytic converting (PFCC) unit in phase 3 and started around 7.20 p.m. on Friday. The fire was contained within the place of occurrence in the closed blowdown system and brought under control in a short time and completely put off in 30 minutes.
It said that there is no injury to any personnel.
"Our fire teams and the fire fighting systems are equipped to handle any such occurrences and there is no reason for any concern," the e-mail statement said.
