Walmart, the global retail chain suffered a minor fire accident in its wholesale store in Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh early on Saturday morning.
A fire broke out at the Best Price store premises in Vijayawada. State Fire authorities quickly reached the store and brought the situation under control. There was no loss of life, company spokesperson said.
“We are assessing the damage to the property and investigating the matter. Fortunately no employee suffered injuries and all are safe,” he said.
Our Business Continuity Plan which handles such issues, quickly restored the store activities and ensured continuity in service.Services are now offered through Guntur Best Price store and Best Price website temporarily, he added.
The fire had engulfed considerable parts of the large format store, set up a couple of years ago..Officials suspect short circuit.
The store near Vijayawada is one of the first 20 Best modern wholesale stores established, owned and operated by Walmart India across the country. The company has plans to increase the number to 50 in the next couple of years with a few more in Andhra Pradesh.
