External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj starts a fiveday visit to Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore to boost India’s ties with the three key Southeast Asian nations in the strategic domain as well as in the areas of trade and investment. Swaraj will be in Thailand during January 4-5, Indonesia on January 5-6 and go to Singapore on a three-day trip.

A special CBI court is likely to pronounce the quantum of punishment to Lalu Prasad, 15 others in the fodder scam case. The court had on December 23 convicted Lalu Prasad and the others, 21 years after it had surfaced.

The Government will launch a massive cleanliness survey to take stock of the programmes undertaken in urban areas. The survey, that will run till March 10, will cover a population of more than 40 crore in nearly 4,000 urban centres.

A Delhi court will take up the issue of whether Vijay Mallya should be declared a proclaimed offender (PO) for allegedly evading summonses in a FERA case. The Enforcement Directorate is likely to press for declaring Mallya a PO as the court has already given him the last opportunity to appear.
