Ford India launched the ‘New Ford Figo’ in Mangalore on Thursday. Shripad Bhat, country director (government affairs), Ford India Pvt Ltd, said on the occasion that Mangalore is one of the six cities where New Figo was launched.
The other cities are Coimbatore, Guwahati, Ludhiana, Jaipur and Nagpur.
The ex-showroom price of ‘New Ford Figo’ petrol variant starts at Rs 3.92 lakh and diesel variant starts at Rs 4.91 lakh in Mangalore, he said.
Stating that there is good demand for small cars like ‘New Figo’ in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, Bhat said Ford India has 230 dealers in 123 cities in the country.
Figo is exported to more than 35 countries. A majority of these markets are in West Asia and Africa, Bhat said.
The company has begun work on a manufacturing unit at Sanand in Gujarat. Ford will invest $1 billion in the Sanand unit. The unit will add 5,000 more people to its current workforce.
He hoped that the Sanand unit would be ready for commissioning in the next 18-24 months.
