Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will lay the foundation for the 600 MW coal-fired thermal power project to be taken up with a capital outlay of Rs 3,570 crore at Jaipur in Adilabad district of the State.
This is in addition to the 1,200 MW power plant of (2x600 MW) now under development by the State-owned mining company Singareni Collieries Company Limited. The project will be completed and commissioned by December 2017, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.
The first unit of 600 MW of the 1200 MW project is expected to be commissioned later during the year and second unit of 600 MW by early next year. This is part of the State’s effort to increase the power generation capacity.
