Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former prime minister and Janata Dal (Secular) chief HD Deve Gowda , is contesting from Hassan Lok Sabha seat, a constituency represented by his grandfather. Speaking to BusinessLine, Prajwal shares information regarding his candidature, campaign and political scenario in Hassan district. Excerpts:

How is the campaign going on in Hassan as there is speculation that Congress workers are not keen to work with the JD(S)?

Yes, initially it was chaos but now I see stability. As days progressed, our leaders have sorted issues plaguing the joint campaign. So far I have met and sought the support of Congress leaders. After all these efforts, the alliance is in a good shape.

There is distrust over where the alliance will lead post-elections, especially after Congress leader being given a ticket to contest against you. How do you see it?

For the past 10 months, we have been observing the BJP. What they are doing. All we could see was they are trying to break the alliance and disrupt our move. Taking this into consideration, we have already checkmated them. Election results will be in our favour.

Both the grandsons of JD(S) supremo HD Devegowda are testing waters, what is the pulse of the people?

See, the pulse of the people is definitely good, they are supporting us now and will continue to do so after the elections. So let’s see what happens on May 23. I hope everyone supports us.

People are talking about dynasty politics and your family. How do you see this?

I think Shivamogga has this problem right now. If you go towards North India, dynasty politics is everywhere. Why Deve Gowda and his family alone are being targeted?

What is the message for the constituency and priority for Hassan?

I am here to work for the people. So I want to stay with the people. I have been working for my father for the past eight years. First thing is that we are concentrating on job generation. And today, the major problem of any district or any rural area is unemployment. So, I want to bring more industries to Hassan.

As Congress is supporting the party, will you be working whole-heartedly for their candidate as well?

Definitely. Because the Congress is supporting us, so we are supporting them whole-heartedly. Dinesh Gundurao is with us now....Parameshwar is with us now. So definitely, the team will be stronger. These senior leaders have promised to support me by taking part in rallies.
