Natural gas supply to thermal power plants in Andhra Pradesh has been cut by 2 million standard cubic meters per day. This means an additional power generation loss of 400-MW capacity.
The Centre has decided to divert the gas to Ratnagiri power.
Andhra Pradesh is receiving low gas supply for its power plants and this will be a big blow, according to G. Srinivasa Rao, AP Minister for Infrastructure.
The cut in gas supply will further cripple the State which is already faced with severe power crunch. The State is likely to take up the issue with the Centre and seek to reverse the decision till the power situation improves.
