The Andhra Pradesh Government in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Union Government will hold a global investors' summit here in January, according to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

He was speaking here on Sunday to reporters after inspecting development projects in the city. He said the summit would showcase Brand Vizag after the devastation wrought by Hudhud cyclone last year.

He said the industries in the city, both in the public sector and the private sector, should make all efforts to reduce pollution to the minimum and they should focus on green development. He said it was the responsibility of each industry to take all steps to minimise pollution.

He said the BRTS works in Visakhapatnam city should be completed in three to four months. All steps would be taken to develop Vizag as a smart city with the help of the United States of America.

He expressed dissatisfaction that there was not a single adequate convention centre in the city and said the AU convention centre should be completed on urgently. The required funds, Rs 6 crores, would be sanctioned immediately and the centre should be ready in December, he instructed the officials.

He also instructed the authorities to complete the pending work on the Visakhapatnam Institute of Medical Sciences and to undertake the development of the King George Hospital (KGH).
