The GMR-led Hyderabad Airport City is being transformed as an aerotropolis, with a vibrant business-cum-leisure hub and thematic parks.
The diversified infrastructure company, GMR, has been developing Hyderabad Airport City in the precincts of the Hyderabad International Airport. Hyderabad Airport City would offer an integrated ecosystem with theme-based, anchor-led development zones, which include key ports and establishments, including a Business Port, a Health Port, Education Port, Fun Port, Retail Park, Logistics Park and Aerospace Park, as a multi-product SEZ.
By developing the airport as an aerotropolis, it is expected to play a catalytic role in the growth of Telangana’s economy.

French major Safran has located its facility in GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ Ltd, a 100 per cent subsidiary of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, to manufacture aircraft engines parts, for the LEAP turbofan engine from CFM International.

Hyderabad Airport closed last year with more than 21 million passengers and is growing 20 per cent year-on-year.
GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd was commissioned in 31 months in March 2008, with an initial capacity of 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA) and 1,50,000 MT of cargo handling capacity per annum. The project has the flexibility to accommodate over 40 MPPA and is being developed in a phased manner.
