Goa's Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar, today said that the Goa Public Service Guarantee Act making government officials responsible for giving timely service to people would be implemented in next 3—4 months.
“The true hallmark of any democracy is empowerment of its citizens. The Government of Goa, through the recently enacted ‘Public Service Guarantee Act’, has taken a huge step towards empowering its citizens,” he told PTI.
The Chief Minister said the Act specifies statutory laws which guarantee time-bound delivery of services for various public services rendered by the Government to the citizens.
“The Act also provides mechanism for punishing the errant public servant who is deficient in providing service in stipulated time,” he added.
Parrikar said that implementation of the same will take around 3-4 months.
The Act was passed during recently held State Legislative Assembly session and has even got the ascent from Goa Governor.
