Describing the upcoming BRICS nations’ international summit in Goa in October as “one of the biggest events” ever to be organised in the State, Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Friday said that the meet would help the State upgrade its infrastructure.
“Preparation meetings will start soon. We are the host State and over 8,000 VVIP delegates are coming here, so we have to be well prepared,” Parsekar told presspersons on the sidelines of a function.
Parsekar, who returned to Goa on Thursday after meeting the Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju regarding preparations for the two-day event scheduled to start on October 15, also said that efforts were being made to improve existing facilities and infrastructure for the arriving delegates. “This is an opportunity for us to spruce up and improve our infrastructure,” Parsekar said.
