Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is running 300 special buses, in a bid to meet the extra rush of pilgrims during the holiday to the ongoing Godavari Pushkaram.
APSRTC Deputy Chief Traffic Manager, Vijayawada, M Sudhakar, said 120 special buses have embarked for Rajahmundry from 11 am today and around 330 buses were sent yesterday, but due to the heavy grid lock on the national highway between Vijayawada and Rajahmundry, buses could not return on schedule.
“In such a condition, we were unable to run some more yesterday, but more buses are being run today to meet the heavy influx of pilgrims from various places,” Sudhakar added.
For the ease of passengers, a few dedicated platforms have been made at stations for Pushkaram special buses, he said, adding, facilities like drinking water are being provided at the bus stops.
