Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will be in Japan on a six-day visit as a member of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers to study Goods and Services Tax (GST) and related matters.

Gogoi will be joining the official Indian delegation led by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers Sushil Kumar Modi in Tokyo in the deliberations on GST.

Some other members of the Indian delegation will arrive in Tokyo after completing its study on GST in Canada. Gogoi is part of the delegation as he also holds the Finance portfolio.

Gogoi is being accompanied by Commissioner and Secretary (Finance) R. C. Joshi, Commissioner (Taxes) John B. Ekka and Special Protocol Officer to Chief Minister Bipul Gogoi.

The Chief Minister will be returning to New Delhi on September 26.
