GPS mandatory for school buses in Bengaluru

In view of the school children’s safety, Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner V Shankar, who also chairs the Regional Transport Authority has made installation of GPS mandatory in school vans and vehicles.

The Deputy Commissioner has also directed transport department to issue permits to school vans on the condition of installing GPS.

Based on the Supreme Court order and the Government Notification, the Road Safety Committee has made this resolution and GPS is made mandatory for the new school vans registering from July 13, 2015 onwards and for old vehicles deadline is given on October 12, 2015 and school authorities are directed to install GPS and get it certified from RTO, he said in a press release from Deputy Commissioner office.
