Green Climate Fund to help Mission Kakatiya

South Korea-based Green Climate Fund of the United Nations Organisation (UNO) is likely to extend ₹2,000 crore financial assistance to the Mission Kakatiya, a project to revive tanks in Telangana launched by the state government.

According to a release, Nabard, which acts as nodal agency for the $100-billion fund set up in 2010, has identified the project.

The fund, set up primarily to support environmental protection programmes in the developing counties will extend ₹1,000 crore as loan while the remaining amount will be given as loan.

A detailed project report will be prepared by Nabard to be sent to the Green Climate Fund soon.
