Rao Inderjit Singh, the Union Minister of State-Independent Charge for Planning and Minister of State for Defence, opened HAL’s upgraded Heritage Center and unveiled HAL Platinum Jubilee Plaque.

Speaking on the occasion, R V Deshpande, Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries and Tourism announced that HAL Heritage Center and Aerospace Museum will now be counted as one of Karnataka’s tourism spots and therefore will stand as tourist landmark in Bengaluru.

Rao Inderjit Singh appreciated HAL efforts in preserving the rich heritage of the country’s aviation history for the benefit of future generations. He said HAL is one of the pillars of strength on which country depends upon for its defence needs.

T Suvarna Raju, CMD, HAL said more airplane models would be added to the aerospace museum which has seen renovation in many areas such as water-walls, fish pond, cafeteria etc.

Established in 2001, this first of its kind aero-museum is situated at Old HAL Airport Road in the city. It is sprawled over 10 acres of lush green land. The Museum houses rare photos from the 1940s, aircraft models that take the visitor on an exciting journey through the Heritage of Aerospace & Aviation Industry in India. There are also true motion simulators that put visitors in the pilot’s seat, offering a thrilling flight experiences.

Rao Inderjit Singh also digitally inaugurated HAL’s upgraded Heritage Centers and Aerospace Museum at Koraput (Odisha), Korwa (U.P.) and Nashik (Maharashtra). He launched a web portal  www.halmuseum.in
