Congress-ruled Haryana and Assam on Wednesday decided to raise the number of subsidised cooking gas cylinders from six to nine for each household in a year.
The Delhi Government had already announced this on Tuesday.
This follows directions from the Congress President Sonia Gandhi asking party-ruled States to raise the cap on LPG cylinders from six to nine, following widespread protests in the country.
Union Ministers K V Thomas and Harish Rawat, too, expressed their disagreement with the annual cap of six subsidised LPG cylinders for a family.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has directed the departments concerned to take action in this regard, an official statement said in Guwahati.
