The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) recovered Rs 69.06 crore from the non-paying consumers upto September 15 during the current fiscal by launching a special recovery campaign.
Power supply of 1,69,275 defaulters was disconnected temporarily/permanently, a Nigam spokesman said here on Wednesday.
The Nigam snapped electricity supply of 34,929 non-payers in Operation circle Ambala comprising of district Ambala and Panchkula, 30,271 in Operation circle Kurukshetra, 27,477 in Karnal, 26,057 in Yamuna Nagar, 19,047 in Panipat, 15,125 in Kaithal, 7,059 in Jind, 3730 in Sonepat, 3,660 in Jhajjar and 1920 in Rohtak.
“These non payers had to pay Rs 94.84 crore to the Nigam. By recovering Rs 69.06 crore from them than 72 per cent of the defaulting amount has been recovered,” he said.
He said the Nigam has constituted special checking teams to conduct cross checking of permanently disconnected consumer premises.
“Inter division checking was being conducted to minimise theft of power by the disconnected consumers,” he added.
