Haryana power discoms announce waiver scheme

Haryana power distribution companies (discoms) today announced a waiver scheme for consumers who have pending electricity bills.

The discoms have given the last opportunity to the villagers and farmers having pending electricity bills against them on June 16, 2005, to take benefits of bill waiver scheme by paying only the capital amount of bills pertaining to the period with effect from June 17, 2005, CMD Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Devender Singh said.

The benefits can be availed up to October 31, 2012.

He said if consumers pay the bills of this period in one go, all the pending bills, pertaining to the period up to June 16, 2005, and the late payment surcharge would be waived off.

The decision will benefit rural domestic and tube well consumers who could not opt for the scheme by March 31, 2007, and those who joined the scheme but could not make payment for 20 months regularly.

To get the benefit, the consumers willing to join the scheme are required to pay a late entry fee at the rate of Rs 500 for rural domestic consumers and Rs 750 (having connected load up to 15 BHP) and Rs 750 (having connected load above 15 BHP) for agriculture consumers.
