The Hyderabad High Court today stayed all the proceedings against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the cash-for-vote scam.
In a major relief to the Telugu Desam Party Chief and State Chief Minister, Justice Raja Elango, on a petition filed by Chandrababu Naidu, seeking stay against all the proceedings in the anti-corruption case, ordered the stay of all proceedings ordered by the Principal Special Judge of ACB Court.
On a petition moved by YSRCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, seeking a direction from the court, the Principal Special Judge had directed the ACB to investigate whether there were grounds against the Chief Minister in the case.
The ACB, earlier this week, had filed a memo in the lower court stating that they would probe and file the report before September 29 whether there was evidence against Chandrababu Naidu.
The ACB Court had been dealing with the case which rocked both the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh last year. The case relates to allegations that TDP leaders had tried to bribe the MLAs of Telangana Rashtra Samithi to vote in favour of TDP backed candidate in the elections to the MLCs.
Telangana TDP leader Revanth Reddy and a couple of others were arrested and later released on bail in the case.
The Chief Minister is in the thick of the controversy as a taped telephonic conversation allegedly shows Chandrababu Naidu interacting with nominated member Elvis Stephenson.
