Voter turnout in one of the two Parliamentary constituencies in Manipur is likely to touch 78 per cent, up from the 70 per cent reported when polls ended, as voters were still waiting to cast their ballots, senior Election Commission officials said here on Wednesday.
In neighbouring Meghalaya, which also went to the polls today, the voter turnout was reported at 64 per cent till polls closed but is likely to touch 66 per cent as the electorate was still queuing up. Both the Parliamentary seats in the states went to the polls on the second of the nine-day poll schedule drawn up by the Election Commission to elect 543 Lok Sabha members.
In Arunachal Pradesh, where elections were held for two Parliamentary and 60 assembly constituencies, a 71 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 5 pm.
