There is a huge rush of pilgrims at all the Godavari pushkaram ghats here on Saturday as it happens to be a holiday on the occasion of Ramzan. The weekend rush of pilgrims is not likely to abate even by Monday, according to officials.
The authorities are regulating the traffic and the crowds at the ghats and there are no untoward incidents. However, there are lengthy traffic jams for several kilometres on all roads leading to Rajahmundry. Pilgrims are suffering hardship.
Drones are being used by the authorities to survey the crowd situation at the ghats and take the necessary measures. The Chief Minister himself is in the town, monitoring the situation.
