John Achillea, Managing Director, IKEA Telangana, on Thursday announced the installation of the company’s wordmark for its upcoming store here.
The company described it as an iconic moment for IKEA India, which it is celebrating.
The Sweden-based home furnishings major with global operations is launching its first India store here. The outlet, spread over 13 acres and built-up space of 4,00,000 sq ft, will feature over 7,000 IKEA products, of which almost 2,000 will be priced below ₹200.
The store will also have a 1,000 seater restaurant — IKEA’s largest among 400 stores globally.
IKEA has been sourcing from India for over 30 years for its global stores. It currently has 50 suppliers with 45,000 direct employees and 400,000 people in the extended supply chain. The first major single-brand retailer to get FDI approval, it plans to open several stores across the metros.
