A day after some members tore papers and threw them from the Well of the House, barriers were erected today in Lok Sabha on both sides of the Secretary General’s chair, which is just below the Speaker’s table.
Green-coloured barriers were put up apparently to protect the Secretary General from any disturbance from the protesting members of Congress who repeatedly storm the Well to target the government.
On the left side of the Secretary General’s chair, the barricade has a small door-like arrangement for him to walk in and out. Anoop Mishra is the Secretary General.
Before the House assembled for the day, some Opposition members were smiling on seeing the barricades.
The proceedings in the Monsoon Session have been marred by incessant Opposition protests against the government over Lalit Modi and Vyapam issues.
Yesterday, there was pandemonium in the House as agitated Congress members tore papers and threw them towards the Deputy Speaker M Thambi Durai who was trying to push the business amid protests.
