Industry bodies Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Associated Chambers of Commerce of India (Assocham) lauded the Cabinet reshuffle and expressed hope that it will boost the nation’s economy and productivity.
In an official statement, CII President Shobana Kamineni welcomed the changes announced in the Council of Ministers and said that the shuffle is “aimed at imparting fresh impetus to India’s development process.
The elevation of new Cabinet ministers and induction of new ministers with independent charge in crucial infrastructure sectors is designed towards implementation and achievement of key targets.”
Assocham President Sandeep Jajodia said, “Induction of fresh talent and reshuffle of key portfolios is a clear message about the Prime Minister’s renewed focus on performance and achieving the targets set for each of the vital ministries.”
CII said that the industry welcomes the new ideas and fresh action agendas that the new ministers will bring to their portfolios. At the same time, continuity too has been maintained in the Council of Ministers. “Overall, the direction of the reshuffle inspires confidence that the path of reforms, ease of doing business and timely implementation will continue to be top priority. This is vital at time when the GDP growth has been flagging,” added Kamineni.
Seeks speedy measuresAssocham’s Jajodia also expressed hope that more and speedy measures are implemented to revive the private investment so that the industrial activity gets a revival boost. “Besides, renewed focus is required to partner with the States in implementation of the stalled projects, particularly in sectors like infrastructure and real estate.”
Jajodia said the country is likely to see a fresh impetus in programmes like Make in India as also in key sectors such as the Railways, energy, housing, and skill development besides industrial policy and xports,during the remaining tenure of the NDA government.
