Trade and industry are relieved that the Tamil Nadu government has not proposed any new taxes in the interim budget and has only announced amendments to the Tamil Nadu Fiscal responsibility Act 2003.
Welcoming the budget proposals, president of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry D Nandakumar pointed out that sales tax on petrol and diesel has not been raised.
“The Chamber also welcomes the announcement of early implementation of the Athikadavu – Avinashi scheme and commencement of preliminary works on this with immediate effect, provision of ₹400 crore for the smart cities programme and ₹500 crore for AMRUT in the interim budget,” he said.
President of Tirupur Exporters’ Association A Sakthivel welcomed the allocation of ₹150 crore for skill development mission as also for preparing detailed project reports to set up CETPs such as the ones in Tirupur with zero liquid discharge in the districts of Namakkal, Erode, Salem and Karur.
