ISIS Medicare & Research Centre opened its first fertility centre in Bangalore and has plans to open facilities in Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata.
“The research is on infertility. This is assuming epidemic proportionS in major cities, especially among professionals. We have chalked out long-term plan to address this issue,” Dr Prasad, Founder Director, ISIS Medicare & Research Centre.
ISIS Medicare opened its first hospital cum research centre in Bangalore built with an investment of Rs 15 crore.
“We plan to expand to other cities in the next 5 years with a hub-and-spoke model. With are working on an investment plan of Rs 200 crore. Each of the centres will have 30 - 40 beds,” Prasad said.
The second and third units of ISIS Medicare will come up in Whitefield area and Indira Nagar in Bangalore in the next 18 months.
Subsequently, ISIS will expand to other cities. “The first three units will be internally funded. We are looking for VC funding for our expansion plans. We have already concluded one round of discussion with two firms. Today, the VC funding firms are interested in making long-term investments in the healthcare sector, as it is one of the fastest growing in the country,” added Dr. Prasad.
Speaking on the rise in infertility problems among working professionals, Dr. Ashalatha Ganesh, Founder Director, said, “Two decades ago, about 15 per cent of the population had infertility problems. Now, that has risen to an alarming 20 per cent nationwide. This is more visible in the cities because of increased awareness. Besides, people are realising about the existence of the problem and seeking medical intervention. We need more of counselling and focused treatment to tackle infertility.”
