For the second day on Friday, Income Tax officials continued their searches on Jaya TV and several premises belonging to jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala’s family members, including her husband M Natarajan.
The search was allegedly in connection with unexplained and unaccounted money by various shell companies in which Sasikala and her relatives were associated with.
On the first day, over 100 locations were searched and documents and papers seized. Searches were done today in less than 25 locations in Chennai, Coimbatore and Thanjavur, said department sources.
Jaya TV headquarters was at the thick of action in the last two days with a large number of IT officials visiting the building frequently.
Today, IT officials searched Jazz Cinemas in a mall, and the residence of Sasikala's nephew and Jaya TV Managing Director Vivek Jayaraman and his sister Krishna Priya’s home in the city.
Department officials declined to give information on the quantum of seizure or the contents of the documents seized.
