Jammu and Kashmir has extended the last date for submission of bids for 13 independent power producers (IPP) in the State to November 30.

“On the request of the participants, the last date for submission of bid for the 13 IPP projects, already advertised by the corporation, has been extended from November 17 to November 30, 2012,” a senior official of Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) said.

JKPDC had floated Request for Proposal (RFP) tenders in September this year inviting sealed bids from eligible IPP bidders for implementation of 13 hydroelectric power projects on build-operate-own and transfer (BOOT) basis.

IPP projects up to 10 MW capacity are reserved for execution by IPP owned by the permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir.

This decision was taken after discussions by the corporation with the representatives of Chambers of Commerce and other stakeholders to ensure greater participation of local entrepreneurs in such projects.

The projects included Chenani-IV HEP project in Udhampur district with 7 MW capacity, followed by Sewa-I in Kathua district with 8 MW capacity, 10 MW Erin project in Bandipora district, 10 MW-Mawar project in Kupwara district, and 9-MW Boniyar project in Baramulla district.
