Hailing the Karnataka High Court verdict acquitting her in the disproportionate assets case, AIADMK chief Jayalalaithaa today said it has proved that she did no wrong and vowed to continue to work for the welfare of people of Tamil Nadu.
“Today’s verdict gives me immense satisfaction, this has removed the slander imposed on me, this has erased the blame put on me by political enemies,” she said in her first reaction hours after her acquittal.
It has confirmed that I have done no wrong, this verdict is a boon granted by God for the prayers of Tamil Nadu people after the verdict of the lower court,” she said.
Stressing that she did not consider the verdict as a personal victory, Jayalalithaa said, “I don’t consider it as a personal victory, justice has been established, dharma has won and that is this verdict, conspiracies always may win temporarily, however final victory is for dharma and honesty.”
Hitting out at DMK, she alleged the case was filed against her as a result of that party’s “web of conspiracy.”
“As conspiracy and fate played out justice slept in between (in an apparent reference to her conviction) and today’s judgement has proclaimed that justice will emerge victorious,” she said.
Stressing that her wish was to see people get everything, she vowed continuing to work for people’s welfare as “she has been doing always as their welfare was her welfare.”
AIADMK brainstorms

Partymen and supporters, meanhwile, have been continuously pouring in at the Poes Garden shouting slogans in praise of Jayalalithaa and seeking her immediate return as chief minister.
