Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was hospitalised on Thursday night following fever and dehydration.
Statements from the hospital where she was admitted said the Chief Minister was stable, under observation, and that “she has no fever and is taking a normal diet.”
Authorities were tight-lipped about the whole issue. Except for the updates from the hospital, there was no word from the government.
Almost her entire Cabinet of Ministers was present at the hospital, where security arrangements were tight.
An AIADMK spokesperson said the leader was “fine and perfectly alright, and is likely to be discharged soon.”
Police had put up barricades across all major intersections leading up to the hospital and vehicular movement was restricted, hitting commuters hard.
