Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today unveiled a name board of a prominent city road here named after B Ramachandra Adityan, an eminent media personality who passed away in 2013.

Jayalalithaa unveiled the name board “B Ramachandra Adithanar Salai” in a function held in Adyar here.

Director of “Malai Murasu” Tamil eveninger, R Kannan Adityan, son of Ramachandra Adityan, who lived in the Fourth Main Road in Gandhi Nagar at Adyar had appealed to the CM to rechristen the road after his late father.

In deference to the request, Jayalalithaa ordered that the prominent road be rechristened as B Ramachandra Adithanar Salai (road). Accordingly, Chennai Corporation adopted an enabling resolution and a Government Order was issued on August 12, 2015.

“It is the wish of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa that the memory of B Ramachandra Adithanar who carved a niche for himself must be honoured,” an official release said here.

As Managing Editor of Malai Murasu, Ramachandran was credited with serving the field of journalism for over 50 years.

Also, he played a key role in bringing back the Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank into the fold of the original promoters, the Nadar community after a long battle.
