Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa today filed her nomination papers from Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar for the forthcoming Assembly elections to be held on May 16.
She is a sitting MLA from this constituency where she won a by-election last year.
Being an auspicious day, she left her Poes Garden just past noon after the inauspicious time of Yamagandam between 10.30 am and 12 noon.
Accompanied by her close friend Sasikala, Jayalalithaa arrived at the Greater Chennai Corporation’s Zonal Office 4 at Tondiarpet in North Chennai at 12.21 pm and went into the building to sign the papers.
She came out within five minutes, showing the victory sign to party cadres and media persons waiting outside the building.
Jayalalithaa’s rival candidates in the constituency are Shimla Muthuchozhan of DMK, P Agnes of PMK and Vasaanthi Devi of VCK.
