Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today greeted Chief Justice of India designate, Justice P Sathasivam, on being selected to the top post.
His elevation to the top judicial position is a matter of joy for the people of the state, she said.
Jayalalithaa said that hailing from an agricultural background, Justice Sathasivam rose to his latest achievement.
“He is a simple and affable person who is known to use no strong words with anyone. He has been selected for this top post by virtue of his honesty and efficiency,” she said in a statement.
Extending her greetings on behalf of the people of the state, Jayalalithaa wished Justice Sathasivam brings more laurels to the judiciary.
President Pranab Mukherjee has given his nod for the appointment of 64-year-old Sathasivam as the next Chief Justice of India. He will take over as the 40th CJI on July 19 and will have tenure till April 26, 2014.
