Karnataka has announced an Idea2POC (Proof of Concept) fund of ₹10 crore for women entrepreneurs.
“Under this (Idea2POC) scheme, the Karnataka Department of IT, BT and S&T will fund upto ₹50 lakh for any woman innovator looking for funds for Proof of Concept validation, certification, and cover costs in manufacturing of pilot devices,” said Priyank M Kharge, Minister of IT, BT and Tourism.
Kharge, speaking at a women conference, said “I am happy to note that the confederation of women entrepreneurs is promoting the cause of women empowerment by inculcating a culture of entrepreneurship among women and facilitating in shaping their ideas into workable models of business. Women empowerment means building their confidence level to face the world and to achieve their targets.”
The IT/BT Department, under the Multi-Sector Startup Policy of Karnataka, created the Idea2PoC Fund.
The policy recognises the gaps that exist in the start-up eco system and aims to cover them through strategic interventions.
The Minister assuredwomen entrepreneurs of full support of the State government, with any funding, legal or mentoring related issues. He announced an open house for women entrepreneurs, where there will be able to put forward their issues and problems to the government.
Travel discountAs a goodwill measure, he also announced 50 per cent discount to women travellers across all Jungle Lodge properties in the State for the next six months.
Minister for Large and Medium Industries, RV Deshpande, urged the women’s associations to work together and develop a vision document for women entrepreneurs for the next 10 years.
