Karnataka clears 19 projects worth Rs 14,818 cr

The State high-level clearance committee (SHLCC) chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has cleared 19 projects with an investment of over Rs 14,818 crore. The projects are expected to create 69,746 jobs spread across 13 districts.

Prominent projects cleared at SHLCC meet held on August 23 are: Wipro Enterprises Ltd, Infosys Ltd, Cognizant Technology Solutions India, Exilant Technologies, Gleason Works-India, Asian Paints, Kennametal India, Kirloskar Toyoda Textile Machinery, Medreich Limited Tech Mahindra Limited, The Himalaya Drug Company and Tata Power.

Sector-wise projects

Automobiles, three projects - investment Rs 5,415 crore - jobs created 2,496 people; Chemicals, three projects - investment Rs 2,618 crore - jobs created 1,847 people; Electronics, two projects - investment Rs 2,120 crore - jobs created 7,000 people; Engineering, two projects - investment Rs 1,279.2 crore - jobs created 1,520 people; Iron & Steel, one project - investment Rs 242 crore - jobs created 296 people; Software, five projects - investment Rs 2,494.83 crore - jobs created 56,050 people; Sugar, two projects - investment Rs 483.15 crore - jobs created 483 people and Tourism, one project - investment Rs 166.05 crore - jobs created 54 people.

District-wise

Bagalkot – one project - investments Rs 323.15 crore - employment for 183 people; Bangalore (rural) – six projects - investments Rs 4397.83 crore - employment for 23,302 people; Bangalore (urban) – one project - investments Rs 1,505 crore - employment for 1,195 people; Belgaum – one project - investments Rs 3,847 crore - employment 1,231 people; Bijapur – one project - investments Rs 160 crore - employment for 300 people; Dakshina Kannda – one project - investments Rs 166.05 crore - employment for 54 people; Dharwad – one project - investments Rs 472 crore - employment for 1000 people; Kolar – one project - investments Rs 63 crore - employment for 70 people; Koppal – one project - investments Rs 242 crore - employment for 296 people; Mysore – two projects - investments Rs 2,404.2 crore - employment for 1,220 people; Ramanagara – one project - investments Rs 450 crore - employment for 5000 people and Tumkur – one project - investments Rs 148 crore - employment for 345 people.
