Karnataka is pitching to host the next edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in the state.
Karnataka Minister for Higher Education and Tourism, R V Deshpande initiated this move when he met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Today I met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also requested him to hold the next Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Karnataka. The Prime Minister said it will certainly be considered,” said Deshpande.
The delegation from Karnataka is in Gujarath’s capital to take part at both Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. The delegation also met the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel. The delegation apprised both Modi and Patel about the developments in the state.
Earlier in the day, the Karnataka pavilion and the Vibrant Gujarat pavilion were inaugurated by Deshpande in the presence of senior Industry and Tourism officials from Karnataka.
The minister and K Ratna Prabha, Karnataka Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce department chaired several B2B meetings wil foreign delegates and shared information in investment opportunities.
The State delegation will address Indian and International delegates and potential investors at a Karnataka State session on ‘Investment and Business Opportunities’ on January 9.
At the state session, Ratna Prabha, will make a strong pitch for investments into Karnataka. Arvind Jadhav, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Department of Tourism will showcase Karnataka as a leading Tourism destination. The other members of the delegation from the Government include, Gaurav Gupta Commissioner for Industrial Development and senior officials from the department of Tourism.
