A day after the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party scripted history by securing 67 of the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly polls, DMK president M Karunanidhi today extended his congratulations to the leader.
“On behalf of the DMK, I convey my hearty congratulations to you and AAP on the landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections,” Karunanidhi said in his letter to Delhi Chief Minister designate Kejriwal.
Noting that it was a “grand landmark in the history of Indian democracy and the evolution of our electoral process, he said, “Your victory has proved beyond doubt that the people of this great country have always stood by secularism and democracy.”
The DMK patriarch said that he was certain that Kejriwal would fulfil all the promises made to the electorate in a set time-frame and that the Centre would lend its administrative support to him, keeping in mind the mood of the people.
In a landslide victory, AAP secured 67 of the 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly polls.
Kejriwal, who has been elected leader of the AAP legislature party, met Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung yesterday and staked his claim to form the government in the national Capital. Kejriwal will be sworn in as Chief Minister at the Ramlila Grounds on February 14.
