DMK president M Karunanidhi and his son and party Treasurer M K Stalin were among those who greeted party MP Kanimozhi on her 47th birthday on Monday.
Kanimozhi’s CIT Colony residence here was decked up for the occasion, even as her supporters had organised welfare activities on the occasion.
Besides her father Karunanidhi and half-brother Stalin, other notable DMK leaders who personally greeted Kanimozhi, an accused in the 2G Spectrum allocation case, were Dayanidhi Maran and T R Baalu.
Kanimozhi is the head of the DMK’s Literary Wing. Her supporters have been reportedly demanding a bigger role for her in the party even as it is believed that Stalin is not in favour of such an idea.
On Sunday, political circles in the state were abuzz about Stalin offering to resign as Treasurer of the party with his father Karunanidhi rejecting his demand to contest for the General Secretary post, with last of the organisational polls scheduled for January 9 during the DMK general council.
However, the 64 year-old leader insisted that it was a rumour being floated by someone with malicious intent.
