Corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) is the latest trigger for yet another bout between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the Centre.
Kejriwal on Friday lashed out at Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung for having reportedly questioned the institution of a Commission of Enquiry to probe the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) scam.
At a Delhi Government function, Kejriwal accused Jung of trying to protect his political bosses. “The LG’s boss is Jaitley sahib and he is trying to save him,” said Kejriwal, who has consistently maintained that Jung has been trying to destabilise his government at the behest of the Centre.
Kejriwal followed it up with a series of tweets. “
Kejriwal’s office was raided earlier this month by the CBI which is reportedly probing his secretary Rajender Gupta. Kejriwal, however, has maintained that the CBI sleuths were looking for files pertaining to scams in the DDCA. Subsequently, a special session of the Delhi Assembly was called and a Commission of Enquiry instituted to probe the allegations.
The Delhi CM has publicly accused Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who headed DDCA for 13 years, of corruption. Jaitley has sued Kejriwal and other AAP leaders for defamation and accused him of spreading “falsehood” and “vulgarity” in public discourse.
