Taking a dig at AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, the BJP on Monday said he is attacking its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi only to remain in the “limelight”.
“If Arvind Kejriwal wants to remain in limelight, he has to chant ‘Namo Namo’. He knows that he is doing ‘Modi-Modi’ only to remain in news,” BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
Hussain also alleged that Kejriwal was ousted from Delhi and now has no takers. Neither the media nor the country takes him seriously, he said.
“If he does not speak against Narendra Modi, the media would not pay any attention to him.
“IHe has been ousted from Delhi and neither the people of the country nor the media takes him seriously.
“He is now doing his politics by chanting Modi’s name,” Hussain added.
Kejriwal, at a rally in Bangalore yesterday, had said he would visit Varanasi, where Modi will contest, on March 23. It is up to the people to decide whether they will give him the responsibility of fighting from the city or not, he said
Files complaint Accusing Kejriwal of levelling “defamatory” allegations against Modi and its other leaders, the BJP filed a complaint against him with electoral authorities, alleging it violated the model code of conduct.
“We have filed the complaint with the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer against Kejriwal for making defamatory and false statements and hurling charges on personal character, constituting violation of the model code of conduct,” BJP leader Suresh Kumar told reporters after filing the complaint.
He said Kejriwal has violated laws under Section 505 (2) and 171 G of Indian Penal Code and under 123(4) of Representation of People Act.
