Kerala will build 20,000 houses for fishworkers as part of coastal area development initiatives, Fisheries Minister K Babu has said. Already, 6,573 units have been constructed at a cost of ₹2 lakh each. Of these 1,049 houses are in Thiruvananthapuram alone.
He said this wile initiating work on a new in-patient block for a community health centre at Pulluvilla and laying the foundation stone for a modernised fish market at Kazhakkoottam.
The projects are being implemented by the Kerala State Coastal Area Development Corporation. Managing Director K Ampady and chief engineer Gireesh attended function.
