Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and senior leaders of the state BJP unit and RSS have begun closed door discussions purportedly aimed at preventing further escalation of violence in the state capital.

This comes on a day after passions ran high and violence broke out even along the route when the body of a slain RSS karyavah was being taken for cremation the previous evening.

TIGHT VIGIL

The city continued to be under tight police vigil after prohibitory orders were extended for three more days in the wake of persisting CPI(M)-BJP-RSS clashes.

No untoward incident has been reported from anywhere in the city, though rumblings from yesterday's state-wide hartal are being reported from elsewhere in the state.

Meanwhile, mediapersons here are miffed that they were asked by the Chief Minister to 'clear off' from the venue of the talks with the BJP-RSS, after being invited.
