Cognub Decision Solutions, a healthcare company based here specialising in cognitive decision science, will launch an intelligent patient-engagement solution for continual care.

The announcement of the launch of the solution, iEngage, was made at CeBIT-Hannover, Europe’s largest annual technology fair.

Patient-centric Explaining the logic, Anoop P Ambika, Chief Executive Officer, Cognub, observed that the global healthcare industry is moving towards a patient-centric, clinical outcome-driven model of care.

Enough data is already available to support the fact that patients who participate in their own care often experience better outcomes.

For instance, discharging patients early and relying on iEngage to alert and guide them and caretakers could reduce hospital readmissions, and increase profitability and productivity of regional hospitals.

iEngage — built on IBM Watson Alchemy APIs, Apple Health Kit and Human API — will be trained initially on chronic co-morbidities that require careful monitoring and notification based on natural language processing and deep learning. Medical expertise will be captured and represented in the Cognub engine.

Kerala delegation Cognub will work closely with research institutions and hospitals in the US and India in order to personalise patient engagement.

iEngage uses language and speech services from Watson to proactively establish patient cohorts, identify care opportunities and execute automated campaigns to lower risks and improve health outcomes, says Umesh Harigopal, Chief Innovation Officer at US-based Innovation Incubator Inc.

Meanwhile, a delegation of 20 IT companies from across Kerala led by Ajith Kumar R, Chief Executive Officer, Cyberpark, Kozhikode, is participating at CeBIT, which will conclude on Friday.

The appetite for services remains high in the European region. This is an opportunity for Kerala-based small and medium companies, said Kumar.

Enhanced profile Repeat presence at CeBIT over the years has enhanced the profile of the state as an IT destination. This would hopefully enable our companies to tap into the market with ease, Kumar added.

The delegation is the 10th organised by the State government and the Group of Technology Companies (GTech) as part of Global IT Connect, an initiative to promote SMEs from the IT sector, in global markets.

“The continued support from the government enables SMEs to venture into new markets, something they would not have been able to do on their own,” says Renjith Ramanujam, Chief Executive Officer, GTech.

Kerala IT delegations have in the past visited Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Singapore and the UAE.
